ACCORDING to Carl Zeiss, its CALYPSO measuring software technology is being used by Munich-based Knorr-Bremse to coordinate its various measuring machines.
Knorr-Bremse manufactures braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles. It uses a variety of measuring machines from different manufacturers, including three dimensional coordinate measuring machines, three dimensional laser trackers, lab equipment for spectral analysis and scanning electron microscopes.
According to Carl Zeiss, Knorr-Bremse requires the measuring equipment to have a TS16949-certified quality management system in order to inspect its braking system components.
The company decided to use Carl Zeiss’ CALYPSO measuring software because it offers direct interfaces to connect third-party systems. Knorr-Bremse installed the CALYPSO universal software platform on all of its three dimensional measuring machines.
According to Knorr-Bremse, the software allowed the operation of the measurement equipment to become more flexible. The results are more comparable, programming has become simpler and it is easier to manage programs.
