NexyGenPlus software from Lloyd Instruments demonstrates the importance of imaging as an aid to materials testing. Images of test set-ups can be incorporated into help screens to help eliminate errors in the set-up routines, while video or still pictures can be recorded during the actual test.
Prior to a test starting, a supervisor can configure a help screen for operators. Both text and an image can be added to show the correct fixtures and load cells to be used. This reduces the chance of errors in a production environment where many operators are using the system and it ensures that they follow correct procedures.
Using a webcam, the unique video and stills picture capture facility within NexyGenPlus allows entire tests to be videoed and synchronized with the stress/strain data. This can then be replayed for detailed post-test analysis, providing an extremely useful supplement to test results alone. Still images can also be taken at specific points during the test and recorded on the graph for easy analysis. A further demonstration of this facility can be seen by requesting a NexyGenPlus Demonstration CD.
NexyGenPlus offers a range of facilities, including an extensive built-in library of user-configurable test methods covering ASTM, DIN, EN, ISO and other standards. In addition, there are complete test wizards for tension, compression, tearing, peeling, friction and flexural tests. There is also a user configurable test, which can be used to create specialist multi-stage tests. This is particularly useful for product and component testing.
A library of pre-defined test results is available for all types of tests. There are also many flexible data analysis tools for rapid analysis of captured data. Built-in statistical process control (SPC) functionality enables continuous monitoring of process parameters such as Cp and Cpk. A versatile data export facility ensures easy data transfer to LIMS, SPC or data management systems.
A security and audit trail module enables supervisors to manage user access and data traceability. It can also be configured to assist manufacturers with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements.
NexyGenPlus also features utilities for systems integration to accommodate automation in manufacturing. These include automated sample handling, in-line testing and the monitoring of parameters from additional measurements and strain gauges.
The NexyGenPlus software and associated materials testing machines are available in Australia and New Zealand from Technical and Scientific Equipment (TSE).
