Instrument demonstration rig to tour Australian mines

ENDRESS+HAUSER has developed a working demonstration rig for the mining industry that can model complex wet processes such as flotation cells and thickeners.

The ‘Mine Model on Wheels’ incorporates most of the instruments used in a typical mining process plant. It features several control loops including level control, interface measurement, density, pH control, mass flow and dosing.

According to the company, the rig can be used by engineers can develop an understanding of their instruments, automation strategies and plant asset management techniques and optimise their usage.

The unit will be taken to major mining hubs and sites across Australia from early 2009.
