Microscan to acquire Siemens’ machine-vision division

MICROSCAN has announced plans to acquire Siemens’ machine-vision business, formerly known as Acuity CiMatrix.

The acquisition target is best known as the developer of the ‘2-D Data Matrix code.’

Microscan says the purchase will allow it to enhance its data acquisition and control products with machine-vision identification and inspection technology.

The deal is expected to close on 19 September 2008.
