SICK has released the OD Value series of displacement sensors.
The OD Value has four different measurement ranges from 26mm to 34mm to 60mm to 180mm and resolutions between 2µm and 30µm. Using CMOS technology, the devices are capable of measuring the position of bright, dark or highly reflective objects.
Operating in the micron range, the OD series from SICK are used in the electronics, robotics, automotive and packaging industries. Most often they monitor the position of objects; measure profiles, diameters or thicknesses. On irregular surfaces the smallest deviation or notch can be detected. The OD Value takes on all quality relevant functions where µ-meters matter - for inline quality inspection, process regulation or product classification.
Four different interfaces are available for integrating OD Value distance sensors, which require no supplementary evaluation unit. In addition to the RS-422 option with a switching output, there is a model with two switching outputs, as well as variants with an analogue current or voltage output (4 - 20 mA or 0 - 10 V) and two switching outputs available.
When operating the OD series the sensors are taught an object’s pattern via teach-in. The OD Series is capable of a measurement frequency of up to 2 kHz. Its enclosure rating of IP67 allows the OD Value to master harsh operating conditions.
