REDBUSBAR is supplying a three-phase test device said to provide a simple and safe method of identifying electrical isolations.
The ‘DeadEasy’ unit can be used by operators without significant electrical training to verify Motor Control Centre (MCC)-based electrical isolations.
The company says a recent survey it conducted revealed many electrical engineers in the mining industry regard isolation verification as time consuming, unreliable and potentially-dangerous. Accordingly, the unit is designed to make the lives of both engineers and non-engineers easier.
According to the distributor, the device employs a user-initiated self-test function with a series of lamps and can be used on both new and old MCCs in restricted-space applications.
The company conducted end-user trials with the assistance of several mining companies, like Xstrata and Rio Tinto, to develop the product further.
